Union St. Bridge

Still can't really use the studio, so here is another painting from pre-history. It's the Union St. Bridge here in Brooklyn, done from the Carroll St. Bridge. That's the Gowanus Canal.

I can't work in the studio for several days because they are sandblasting (?) the bricks on the outside of our building. They didn't cover the windows properly until a layer of brick-colored dust had covered every inside surface. So, have to clean that up. But right now the windows are unopenable and covered with two layers of plastic. Too dark and hot and dusty.

I thought I'd post these paintings in the meantime. They were done at my old studio, views through the Manhattan Bridge.

I was sick for a long time. This is my first painting since starting to get better. It's not a professional photo (obviously), like the ones below, but I thought I'd put it up for now. It was a long painting, maybe 25-30 sessions.

I did these at my old studio in DUMBO. My friend, Tony Scherr, used them on his new album, "Twist in the Wind." The painting on the album cover is also mine. That was the view from my window looking under The Manhattan Bridge. These photos were taken by Edwina Stevenson. The color is as close to perfect as I've ever seen.
